Snowdrop
Galanthus nivalis
The very first native flower to appear in winter, Snowdrops quietly appear at the corners of graveyards, woods and nature reserves from January to March. Although perhaps not as showy as the Galanthus in places like Anglesey Abbey and the Botanic Garden, the white and green blooms continue to delight hundreds of people in the area each year. To look for wild snowdrops, go to Paradise nature reserve or any graveyard in the area. Small numbers also appear in woods to the west of Cambridge.
