One of the first butterflies to appear in spring, this lemon-yellow butterfly is the first many people see each year. The original "butterfly", people used to believe these were transformed witches trying to steal butter. Brimstones can be found throughout the year, being one of the few butterflies to hibernate through the winter.

If you find a hibernating butterfly in the winter, leave it alone! It is important it sleeps through the winter.
